Oh Man! I am so eager to recommend this CD to you guys. I recently received this as a Christmas gift, and I am already benefiting from it! I was struggling in my soul to trust in God’s provision and favor in Christ, and when I heard the truth in these lyrics, my heart began to pray.

What followed was the inspiration for this devotional post.

Men, we can in the midst of trials, erroneously attribute our bad circumstances to God changing his attitude toward us. We can ask ourselves, “What have I done to anger Him?” “God, where did you go?” “Why?”

When we look to God’s word, we see that God uses our circumstances, each and every one of them, for our good. Now, please recognize that this applies to those who have been saved by grace; recognizing their need for forgiveness and the gift of righteousness, and who have turned to and trust in Christ alone for salvation.

If this applies to you…TAKE HEART! Remember that God has made specific promises to YOU that should inform and color the way that you look at the world around you and your role in it.

…for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Heb. 13:5

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Rom. 8:28

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matt 28:20

Let us not let our feelings in the moment cloud the truth of God’s word. He is faithful. Perfectly so. He is completely sovereign. And also completely righteous. He chooses to save by grace, and he promises to keep us by grace as well.

So guys, please listen to music that reminds you of truth about God and His amazing love and mercy on display in the gospel of Christ. So that when you feel like your world is crumbling, or that your relationship with God is distant, cold, or based on your merit, or when you face the trials that are inevitable in this life marred by sin and death, you can, like I was, be reminded of God’s unchanging, ever-present, overwhelming and all-sufficient grace and love for YOU in His Son.

I pray that each of you has the type of experience that I had the other night as I drove, listening to the wonderful gift of  Cross-centered lyrics, being made aware of God’s love as our Father, praying and my heart being broken and refreshed in God’s tender hands.

By the way, the CD is titled: Come Weary Saints and is available from Sovereign Grace Music at their website here and at iTunes.

There is a free song available for download at the SGM site so get that at least!

Thanks for recommending this CD. I have found that worship music and just really any music with biblical influence keeps our mind on the right things such as Gods majesty, sovereignty, and our salvation. Music really is a means of grace as well as good books.
CJ Mahaney talks about not wasting our commutes. While he is specifically speaking on sermons and prayers I think it is not limited to awesome worship music to get our thoughts on Gods awesomeness.
